Pierce Abernathy Partner, Age, Wikipedia, Dating, Parents, Height, Recipe, Birthday- These days, cooking-related short videos are about the only ones I can watch. Cooking successfully requires a lot of talent and practice, and it takes, even more, to document the process and pass it along as knowledge to others. And when I was a kid, I was a Food Network junkie. Although he excels at both (I must presume the latter as I haven’t had the pleasure of dining with him), this week’s subject, Pierce Abernathy, is much more than just a content producer or a chef. In addition, he creates recipes, and models, and is a member of the Aerthship collective.

Pierce Abernathy is a recipe creator and cultural entrepreneur.

Pierce made time in his busy schedule to sit down with me and talk about a variety of topics, including how he transitioned from producing digital media to preparing food and cooking for his parents, his favorite foods and restaurants, the mission of Aerthship, the relationship between natural wine and fashion, and much more.

Let’s start by going over the several hats you wear and your journey to New York City. What is your background, and how did you use it to achieve your current degree of fame?

I moved to New York after graduating to work in the development of digital media. I eventually found work in the food media after a few gigs. That job included cooking and creating recipes. I’ve always loved using my hands to create things, and my passion for it increased swiftly. I contacted a few chefs and business owners in the city because I was aware that I wanted to develop my abilities and expand my passion. I ended up working as an intern at Huertas, an East Village Basque restaurant. After my regular job or on the weekends, I would go in and cut onions, prepare, and, if I was fortunate, make one or two salads.

I got the chance to work in the kitchen as a cook since I was unhappy at my job as a food journalist. I made the risky decision to resign from my paying position. I enjoyed it so much that I stayed there and cooked for a while. I eventually found myself back in the field of digital media working as a freelancer, and in February 2020 I landed a job with a small marketing firm. When the pandemic struck, I thought I would lose my job, but instead, my responsibilities changed, and I started working as a media strategist who connected influencers with our brand partners.

During the epidemic, I relocated back to Kentucky and started cooking every day for my folks. I had a lot of free time in addition to my employment. I made a video of me making baba ganoush shortly after Reels on Instagram began. It gave me a creative release that was enjoyable and about which I didn’t have to hold any guilt. My audience grew as I shared more of these movies online.

I made the risky decision to leave my full-time work in May 2021 in order to pursue the success I had found online and investigate how to make it a long-term career. Although I’m still finding out those wider objectives and my voice in the food industry, the trip thus far has been incredibly fulfilling.

Cooking is undoubtedly a creative and loving act. I enjoy hosting parties, which is a key reason why I enjoy cooking. I genuinely enjoy making others feel cared for through cuisine and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for visitors. My mother always gave food a lot of thought and made sure my brother and I always had a healthy diet. When I go back, I can see that she made dinner for us most evenings of the week as a sign of her affection for us.
